Dental Veneers are thin tooth coloured custom-made shells of porcelain or composite filling material designed to cover the front of the teeth to give the teeth a better look. Veneers can change the shape, size, length, colour and texture of the teeth.

What is the cost of Dental Veneers?
Composite veneers cost up to $700 and Porcelain veneers cost up to $1200.
How are Dental Veneers made?
The elaboration of the veneers will depend on the material chosen between you and your dentist. For porcelain veneers, they have to be custom made in a dental lab, whereas composite veneers can be done directly on your teeth in one visit. However, as this is a highly individualised treatment, the details are better to be discussed with your dentist, they might advise what would be best for your case in particular.
How long is the process?
For porcelain veneers, the process takes approximately 2 appointments, with waiting times that may vary between 1 or 2 weeks between each appointment in order to give the lab enough time to make your custom veneers.
As opposed to porcelain, composite veneers usually take a single visit to get them done. Of course this will depend on every patient’s features and the number of veneers to be done. You can discuss all these matters with your dentist at the time of your consultation. They will answer all your questions and concerns.
How long will a Porcelain Veneer last?
Porcelain veneers are usually very strong and less likely to fracture or discolour compared to composite. If they are well maintained, these veneers may last between 10-25 years or more, and rarely require maintenance. It is the most natural looking enamel replacement material. Although porcelain veneers are usually more resistant than composite, they also require extra care when chewing or biting onto hard foods. Our dentists will explain all the postoperative care you should be giving to your new and improved teeth.
How long will a Composite Veneer last?
Because they are made of composite filling material bonded to the tooth structure, composite veneers are less resistant to biting forces and require more regular maintenance. As composite is more likely to suffer wear and tear, chipping or discolouration, you might need to set future visits every 6 – 12 months for polishing and smoothen them and give their brilliance back.
Is the veneer placement painful?
Like any dental treatment, this procedure may also provide a small amount of discomfort. This is usually at the stage when the dentist is removing some enamel from your teeth. However, at Maxcare Dental our dentist will administer local anesthesia to numb your tooth and to make your experience as pain-free as possible. After the final placement of veneer, you might feel a mild sensitivity which gradually goes away in a few weeks.
Who does the veneers?
You will be on the hands of highly qualified dentists with a vast level of experience in cosmetic treatments such as veneers. If porcelain veneers is what you are going for, we work with the best quality of dental technicians supporting our dentist’s work.
When does the veneer need replacement?
The porcelain veneers have a failure rate below 10%, which stays as long as natural teeth. Although veneers are stronger and durable, they may require replacement for the following reasons,
- Cracks or damages due to facial injury or biting on hard objects.
- If decay occurs to the underlying tooth structure and it cannot be treated without having to drill into the veneer material. The veneer needs to be removed in order to treat the underlying damage.
- Gum can recede over time exposing the margin between the veneer and the tooth root thus creating a fine brown line which needs to be treated.
- Loose veneers due to the gap between the tooth and the bonded veneer can cause damage to the underlying tooth by allowing the bacteria and plaque leakage. Eventually leading to the underlying tooth decay which needs replacement.
- Veneers are highly worn due to use and will need a replacement.
- Veneers may break if the bite changes significantly through tooth loss, acid erosion or decay in teeth. The broken veneer will need to be removed and replaced.
How do I look after my veneers?
Here are some useful tips to take care of your veneers,
- Visit your hygienist or dentist regularly for check-ups and cleaning.
- Practice good oral hygiene. Brush at least twice a day and floss at least once a day. Try to avoid gum recession and exposing of veneer margins, which can increase the lifespan of veneers.
- Use a non abrasive toothpaste and soft bristled toothbrush to protect the polished surface.
- Avoiding hard, sticky and crunchy foods
- Reduce the amount of coffee intake or any other food or beverage that can stain your teeth
- It is advised to wear a mouth guard if you play contact sport.
- Reduce the Acid intake like soft drinks, vinegar diets as they can dissolve the teeth that support veneers and can cause some damage to composite over time.
- Do not use your teeth as a tool for habits like nail biting, opening the bottles which can cause damage to veneers.

Had the horrifying experience of my front tooth just breaking completely off, I went to another dentist who quoted me $6000 for an implant..but he couldn't offer me any temporary replacement... there's no way I was walking around with no tooth for a week, googled implants and maxcare popped up with a deal of $3995. I called them they saw me straight away, I was given options but all came with the promise they could fix a temporary tooth.. they were friendly and really seemed to care..I walked out with my smile and dignity intact and will be back soon to get the implant.. couldn't recommend them more highly..great service.. amazing price

I only went to Maxcare Dental because I had a Grab One deal and it was across the road from my workplace. I went to the max care all frightened but was assured it will be painless. When I went there I was blown away by the relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff . I have changed my dentist to max care because they treated me so well and informed the procedure every step of the way. She was young beautiful and yet so knowledgeable . I completely trust her. The receptionist and the assistant nurse too were so Curtiss and friendly . They really know their stuff and work as a team . The place is clean, location is easy accessible and open 7 days . Dr Tazeen is that rare kind of person that exudes professionalism but also is genuinely caring, and goes out of her way to advise you on what is best for your own personal dental health. Dr Tazeen Khan, was very professional and so kind and thoughtful right from the start, I was super nervous in seeing a Dentist. I wanted to see a female Dentist, she put my worries at ease, cared about my feelings, she worked without any breaks and always che led to see how I was feeling. Dr Khan worked so fast and had everything done in the same day, she did moulds done all in one day and her assistant was very professional as well. My wife and I both had work done at Maxcare Dental in Otahuhu and we were very pleased with the whole experience. The clinic looked very modern and clean. The receptionist was friendly and very helpful. The dentist was very professional and gave us great advise concerning care needed and after care. The cost was competive and reasonable but still a lot for a low income family. We did receive a slight discount which means alot as every cent counts. After consulting multiple orthodontists, I decided to go ahead with Maxcare Dental. They were very reasonably priced, very close to my work and home and also open during weekends and not overly busy. I had my wedding planned for end of the year and all other orthodontists I consulted told me that they cant fix it within a year time but Dr Ramneek Kaur told me that she can do it. She booked me for adjustments every 2-3 weeks and I was off braces within 10 months with amazingly straight teeth. I couldn't be happier with the service I received from her, have exceeded my expectation in everyway. The staff is very friendly as well.

It was a mission for me to find a dentist on a Sunday morning I was turned away by some many dentists in Auckland but Maxcare Dental Otahuhu were nothing but amazing! I love the service and Dr. Hafiz has restored my faith in dentists. All the staff are wonderful and so helpful. I used to avoid the dentist like the plague but I actually enjoy going to the dentist now. Fantastic. I went for wisdom tooth extraction and everything went well. The receptionist was friendly, there was no wait time, and the dentist made me feel easy, took time to explain everything I asked before and after the extraction, and allowed my family member in the extraction room to take pictures.Great experience overall. It's been over two weeks now and I've absolutely nothing to complain about. I'd recommend it to my whanau and friends without hesitation.

My daughter recommended their service, originally I wanted to get other quotes because I knew the bill was going to be expensive however after my initial consultation with the Dentist I was comfortable enough to return and get my extractions done.My experience upon arrival to post procedure I left feeling pain free and happy with the service delivery. The receptionist did everything right to be safe with the 2m distancing and checking my temperature with scanner.I do recommend their service and very grateful to the team.

I went here for a root canal treatment today. I’ve had root canals before so I knew what to expect but since this was my first time at this practice I went in without expectations. I was blown away by the awesome service! The receptionist was very polite and professional. Booking my appointment was easy and she gave clear instructions. Very welcoming.Dr Hassan Mohamed Ahmed treated me. He was thorough, patient, gentle and professional. I didn’t feel like I was being pressured into anything like most of the other dental clinics I’ve been to. He asked me what I came in for and he treated it. Since I’ve had root canals before, I had expected a fair amount of pain but I can happily say that the procedure was 99% painless! I felt taken care of, safe and comfortable. Very pleased with everything. They also have some pretty awesome payment options including After pay. I highly recommend Maxcare and Dr Ahmed! I will be going back there for all my dental needs.

I initially went to Maxcare Dental firstly because they offer different payment methods (we all know dental work can be pricey!) which meant I wasnt forking out the full cost on each visit and can pay it off instead. I had Dr. Tazeen Khan and she was/is amazing. She talked me through everything, and my experience was excellent, so quick and painless. I've had so far 2 procedures (1 root canal and 1 wisdom extraction) with her and have already made plans to continue more treatments with her. Highly recommend this clinic!

Thank you Dr Hassan Mohamed Ahmed and Shameeta 😊 you guys are awesome. I had my Stage 2 root canal done today. I had a bit of a tickle in my throat during the procedure and had a coughing fit. They both made me feel comfortable and let me get settled. I was offered tea and throat lozenges to calm my throat. We proceeded after a while and managed to get it all done.Thank you both for being so professional yet caring. I will come back to have the crown put on 🙏😊

Just saw the owner of the dental practice Dr. Khan for an emergency extraction, not only did they fit me in a very short time frame but she was the kindest, most gentle dentist I have every been too. And charged me half of what I've paid for similar work at other dentists!!! There is no question in my mind that she is now my regular dentist (at the end of the app I got full x-rays and discussed future work that will be needed with her) and I cannot recommend her and her practice enough! Not only is their service amazing but you're supporting a 8WOC, a mother and business owner!

Excellent team here at Maxcare dental Otahuhu, I visited on Saturday, Saw Dr Mohammed.He was very honest and after visiting 4 dentist in last 2 year, I found him very knowledgeable. He guided me in the right direction and diagnosed the issue efficiently/accurately. At not one point, I felt like I m being treated as a cash cow.Even when i ask them to refer me to a surgeon, They did it straight away understanding how my insurance will work for wisdom removal even when the knew that means they don't get to make money from me in this instance.I will definitely be back at their clinic for the 2nd part- which is Tooth filling later.

Massey Clinic - well priced and extremely pleased with their efforts to follow up on a pain issue that wasn’t resolved through the initial fillings. Turned out to be an anomaly bone spicule which didn’t show on an x ray - I came back for a follow up appointment and they resolved this and didn’t charge me. Dr Hassan is the best! I had one tooth Extraction earlier by him. And went again for filling in other two teeth because I needed quality work and he is the best at this. Moreover, it wasn’t that expensive regarding his expertise. I'm so greatfull. I can recommend him with full confidence!

I got my wisdom tooth extracted and dental hygiene done by Dr. Hassan Ahmed. He explained everything in details, asked me in every step of the procedure if I was comfortable enough while explaining each detail throughout the extraction. He was quite gentle.The pricing was also reasonable compared to other clinics. Overall it was a good experience and will definitely recommend him.

On Tuesday I booked my appointment. Yesterday on Wednesday I went for my appointment to maxcare dental clinic. For the very first time I walked in the clinic and was greeted with a big smile by the ladies at the reception and lovely staffs , respectful manner, professional , lovely and caring staffs. They were all so helpful . When I got there I didn't have to wait for that long. Procedure was done perfectly on time. Everything went very well and smooth. It was painless. The staffs took very good care of me and were very calming and gentle. I 100% recommend MAXCARE DENTAL CLINIC for anyone who needs there teeth done. I had an infected wisdom tooth that couldn't be removed by my dentist, but was treated for the infection and was offered to contact a private specialist, but found it was very expensive.I kept coming across Maxcare Dental online, so I got a consult and they were able to remove my tooth a couple of days later🙂 Thank you to the team who took care of me, from my initial consult to the long but careful extraction. It was intense and worrying at first but I was put at ease from the obvious expertise of Dr Muhammed and his team.I will definitely come back for all my toothy needs and recommend this team for professional and affordable dental care 💯

My husband was suffering from tooth pain for about 4-5 days and today couldn’t stand the pain and wanted the tooth out! Looked up dental clinics that were open today -Sunday and thought some said they were open 7 days - only when looking on their website -Not the case - Liars 😠 . Luckily saw Maxcare Otahuhu -green open! Into the car we went- Hubs and I. On the way to clinic called up and a wonderful polite and helpful staff on phone line said that though day is full of bookings if we were to get to clinic before a client gets there at 10:15am or around that time, they’ll see if an extraction can be done. Husband and I parked up at clinic at around 10’ish, filled out a new patient form and boom Hubbs was seen as soon as form was done and put into their system by desk staff. ( The wonderful person who talked to me over phone) Dentist and assistant were also lovely and patient with me when I explained /translated what was to happen for my husband on his tooth and the aftercare when home. All in all - Great service and care and very quick! Husband is happy and so am I.

My brother in law has just had a full set of dentures and they look amazing. Maxcare have done a fabulous job and with the option of being able to pay them off has been helpful.He is one happy guy!!!
