Thinking About Dental Implants?
Dental implants are a permanent tooth/teeth replacement option. Dental implants look and feel like your own teeth and because they are designed to fuse with bone, they become permanent.

Implants Provide an All-Natural Feel
Dental implants look and feel like real teeth. The process of osseointegration creates a root, making the implant function as a natural tooth. There is no noticeable difference between an implant and natural teeth. Schedule a free consultation with our dentist to check your eligibility for an implant.

Implants Can Prevent Bone Loss
After the loss or extraction of a tooth, the surrounding bone in the jaw can begin to disintegrate. As the bone is reabsorbed back into the body, a host of oral issues may arise. Dental implants perform the same functions as natural teeth and can keep the bone stimulated, so further bone loss doesn’t occur.

Implants Can Preserve Your Bite
When you lose teeth, it can cause a change in the overall structure of your entire mouth. This shift can lead to alignment issues and can result in a weakened bite and potentially distorted facial features. A dental implant can help reinforce your bone structure and prevent any changes to your bite.

Surrounding Teeth are Protected
When you lose a tooth, other teeth can deviate from their position and try to take over the empty space. Teeth shifting around can lead to problems with their stability and potential gum issues. Unlike traditional bridges, dental implants don’t require the surrounding teeth to be shaved down.

Implants Require Low Maintenance
Maintaining a dental implant is the same as maintaining your natural teeth. Unlike dentures, you don’t need to remove your implant to keep it clean. And, because it’s a long-lasting option, you won’t have to ever think about having replacements, like you would with a bridge or crown.

Offers a More Permanent Fix
Dental implants are ranked as one of the longest lasting fixes for missing teeth. They are permanent and specifically designed to handle daily wear and tear. You can have confidence in your dental implant lasting a lifetime. In fact, studies have shown that it has a 95 percent success rate over 40 years of use.
What are Dental Implants?
Dental implants take the place of missing teeth and are comprised of three parts:
- The Crown: The tooth-like part of the implant, made of ceramic and designed to look and feel exactly like a natural tooth.
- The Connector: Sometimes called an “abutment,” the connector is used to secure the tooth-like crown of the implant to its base and is often hexagonal or octagonal in shape.
- The Base: A titanium screw that fuses with natural bone to provide a stable base.
What does the Dental Implant process involve?
The dental implant process requires oral surgery and is usually performed while the patient is sedated.
During surgery, the dentist will drill a small hole in the jawbone and carefully screw the base into the bone. The gum is then placed over the implant so that it can heal.
After the base of the implant has healed enough, a second surgery is needed to fit the connector into the top of the implant. Finally, the crown is placed on top of the connector. This crown is attached to the connector with a special dental cement and a small screw.
Frequently asked Questions about Dental Implants.
Will the procedure be painful?
You should experience very little discomfort during the procedure as local anesthesia is available. After the dental implant procedure, there might be a little swelling but this typically very minimal for this procedure. Any post-procedure pain can be managed with medication.
How much time off work will I need?
How long will the implant take to fully integrate with the bone?
The dental implant usually takes about 3 months when implanted in the lower jaw and 6 months for the upper jaw for the implant to fully integrate with your bone.
Do dental implants require special maintenance?
Are dental implants removable like dentures?
No, dental implants are solidly attached to the jaw-bone. This means they are permanently anchored in the mouth and cannot be removed in a similar fashion to dentures.
Are there metal-free dental implants options?
There are no “metal-free” dental implants. Every dental implant on the market contains some form of metal. Dental implants are made with Titanium which is very bio-compatible. It is the same metal used for hip and other joint replacements.
Can ACC help cover the cost of dental implants?
Yes, if your need has arisen due to accidentally injury. Otherwise ACC will not cover the cost.
